Consider Selling During the Holidays

Jeff Lang October 31, 2022

There’s actually a competitive advantage to selling your home now.

There’s a perception in real estate that homes sell predominately in the spring, so that’s the best time to put your house on the market. Homes do sell more in the spring, but it’s a year-round market across the country, especially in our area. There is a competitive advantage that comes with putting your home on the market when others have taken theirs off, which is this time of year.

As we go into the holiday season, there are many buyers still in the market. There are people who are trying to get a home by the end of the year, but they don’t have a lot of choices, so getting your home on the market now is a huge advantage.

“If your house is on the market during this time, it will stand out.”

However, if you have a lot going on or don’t want people in your house during the busy holiday season, one of the things I suggest is to start getting your home ready now so you can list it right away in January, and I’ve had great success with this in the past. You can start scheduling the work to get done, start the marketing, get the photography done, etc. That way we can launch as early as possible in January, whenever you’re ready. This also gives you a competitive advantage.

I have been an advertising partner with Zillow for about 15 years, so I know that the first week of January is often Zillow’s biggest week. Many people are looking for homes at that time and have set a New Year’s resolution to find one. Plus, during that week, people have much more time to look at houses. If your house is on the market, it will stand out.

If you want to talk about taking advantage of these opportunities, please call or email me! I would love to talk to you and help you reach your real estate goals.
